True or fabricated by pedophilic Bedouins who felt restricted by Islam? The Prophet is said to have consummated his marriage with Aisha when she was just nine years old, even though this is forbidden in the Holy Quran. How can one be sure that the Hadiths are forgeries? Those who find the argument that they contradict the Holy Quran insufficient should perhaps have a look at the oldest Hadith manuscripts. The oldest document, entitled “Gharib Al-Hadith,” was written by an early Arab scholar, Abu Ubaid al-Qasim bin Salam (770–838). It is kept in the library of Leiden University and dates back to 866, 234 years upon the Prophet’s death. Any academic institution would reject chains of evidence that developed over such a long period without source —only the superstitious do not— and nothing better teaches this set of rules, arguably unsurpassed in its absurdity and injustice. He asked Safwan, who was present, about what she had said. He replied: “Messenger of Allah, as for her statement, ‘he beats me when I pray’, she recites two Suras (during prayer) and I have prohibited her (to do so).”

He (the Prophet) said: “If one Sura is recited (during prayer), that is sufficient for the people.”

(Safwan continued:) “As regards her saying, ‘he makes me break my Fast,’ she dotes on fasting; I am a young man, I cannot restrain myself.”

The Messenger of Allah said on that day: A woman should not fast except with the permission of her husband.

(Safwan said:) “As for her statement that I do not pray until the sun rises, we are a people belonging to a class, and that (our profession of supplying water) is already known about us. We do not awake until the sun rises.” He said: “When you awake, offer your prayer.”

The people told me that it was obligatory that my son should be stoned to death, so in lieu of that I ransomed my son by paying one hundred sheep and a slave girl. Then I asked the religious scholars about it, and they informed me that my son must be lashed one hundred lashes, and be exiled for one year, and the wife of this (man) must be stoned to death.” Allah’s Messenger said, “By Him in Whose Hands my soul is, I will judge between you according to Allah’s Laws. The slave-girl and the sheep are to be returned to you, your son is to receive a hundred lashes and be exiled for one year. You, Unais, go to the wife of this (man) and if she confesses her guilt, stone her to death.” Unais went to that woman next morning and she confessed. Allah’s Messenger ordered that she be stoned to death.

Conclusion

So what does one forged hadith say about the rest of the hadiths attributed to Muhammad? Where to draw the line? Would a true Prophet contradict Allah? And isn’t Quranism, which categorically rejects these hadiths, logically the only form of Islam that can exist, especially since God forbids Muslims sects and extra-quranic guidance?
