More than 40 years after launching with “Video Killed the Radio Star”, MTV is officially shutting down its remaining 24-hour music channels. By the end of the year, stations such as MTV Music, MTV 80s, MTV 90s, Club MTV and MTV Live will be discontinued in several regions, including Europe, the United Kingdom and parts of the United States. This marks the end of a defining era in pop culture, even as the MTV brand continues with reality and entertainment programming.

Still from the clip “Digging the Dirt” by Peter Gabriel, in which a skull under earth is being gnawed by red vermin, red like the corporate identity of YouTube, the killer of MTV.
The move reflects a broader shift in music consumption. Platforms like YouTube, TikTok and streaming services have long replaced traditional music television. For many fans, however, the shutdown is more than just a programming change. Since its launch in 1981, MTV profoundly shaped how music was experienced and perceived. Music videos could turn artists into overnight stars, and shows such as “TRL“ or “Yo! MTV Raps“ became cultural touchstones. Former VJs recall a time when music was the central focus —before MTV increasingly pivoted toward reality TV in the 2000s. (Entertainmentnow)

Khamenei: And he was not the Holy Spirit
A human assumes the Title “Ruhollah” as if it were an honorary distinction. How can a human bear a name that denotes the Angel Gabriel, or compare himself with a Verse from the Holy Quran, “Ayatollah”, the Holy of Holies that is on earth today? Undoubtedly, this arrogance through religious symbolism casts another shadow over shiism.
The Vienna Festival: Can it get any cooler?
This year, the Vienna Festival has set itself an ambitious task. “Republic of Gods,” paired with the militant addendum “We owe the world a revolution!” — this is not a decorative slogan yet a declaration of war.
Through Thick and Thin with Your Pooch, All the Way to the Grave
Where is it written that humans may only be buried among humans? From a religious perspective, this consensus has limited justification. Neither the Holy Quran nor the Bible specifies in detail on how a corpse should be treated.
